My names Sal, i downloaded the game a month ago and played around with it....i uninstalled it within the same hour i installed it

my gaming experience didn't go to well =]

a month or so later, i come back, using the same account.

i've been playing for less than 2 days

i'm enjoying myself....moving between planets, trading goods while listening to my radio just looking into the vastness of space...

(btw, i'm not being sarcastic, i like it)

i did get my A** handed to me by a some random guy while playing, resulted in a large loss of money, so i have to go back to buying and selling water -_-, but hey, thats the game


so, except for being attacked, my only real problem with the space part of the game is that its lonely =[, there really isn't anyone to talk to....

so, any advice for a lonely trader just looking to chat up a storm with people while making rounds around planets selling his goods? =]

(i'm heavily into roleplaying, if you haven't noticed already)

its gonna be fun playing with you all =]

It's a bit quiet at the moment, yeh... but there is a steady trickle of folk pottering about the galaxy.

It sounds to me like you'd appreciate Guilds. There are a few different Guilds to join (see the relevant menu in any space station) - trader, traveller, pirate guilds... and each Guild has its own chat channel. These are now working again in v49.9.2. You can also set up your own private chat channels if you happen across any like-minded folk.

btw, if i join one guild, can i still quit it and join another one?

er... I think so. If I remember correctly, joining a Guild automatically removes you from any other Guilds you're a member of.

Having said that it seems the Guild chat features are still broken... I can't see the chat tab for that at the moment.

Is there a command that i have to type or should it appear next to "main,starsystem chat"?

It should appear in the middle of the main and starsystem chat. When it does work you can type ?guild to see who all's on the channel. Hope you have better luck against that pirate next time.

Weird, I just logged in again, and the guild chat tab is working. I can only think of two explanations:

1 - mit wrote a clever system that only displays the tab when there's more than 1 person in a guild online at the same time. Seems unlikely though: I appear to be the only person in my guild who's online at the moment

2 - it's broken in some strange and intermittent way :)

ermm could be that the crash server had semi-crashed when i got home from work ... i restarted it about 6:00pm (GMT) so it might have prevented the guild stuff from working but kept the chat alive

No. But you do keep it if you upgrade your ship.

You can also use the galactic chat channels to chat.
Type '?setchat public1' to join the channel, and after that, add ; in front of your text to speak in that channel (in space you can also do it without ; ).
To see who's in the same channels that you're in, type '?chat'.
