Moving around on foot

Post by Sambeaux »

Okay, #3.....

When walking on Republic and floating about in my wee coracle, I have to hold down my arrow keys for long periods of time. Is there any command or keys to automate this?

Heh, what an odd request in a real time game :]

However... I could actually see a use for point & click movement (which I guess'd be the sort of thing you're looking for) if someone built a world that was basically an RTS rather than an action game... and on The Republic, yeh... it wouldn't really change the gameplay if you could do that: apart from the spear chucking bit it's basically a question of moving from building to building.

Having an automated way to do that feels a bit lazy to me, at least on The Republic... but maybe that's because I like paddling the coracle, and wandering about. One to bear in mind for the feature request forum when we're actively looking at adding features again.

Oh, in the meantime, you might try blu-tack or something :]

 I'm not particularly lazy, well.....

Actually it's just the stress on my finger. That, and I can't stick it in my ear while I play! My current fix is wedging a piece of a chopstick next to the arrow key to hold it down.

Point and click movement would be real handy if it could be done on the F7 map! That and being able to mark the map for useful areas.

Did notice on the MiniRepublic on planet Zyv, the coracle keeps moving once you hit the key, plus the 'camera' changes direction with movement.

It depends on the control mode: you can make vehicles almost frictionless that'll basically keep moving until you tell them to stop. Of course it makes them impossible to control, but... well, it's down to the world owner to sort that stuff out. But yeh, it's sort of do-able. I'd stick with the chops if I were you :p
