How do you change a drive?

I bought a drive L8 from the planet Syv spacestation, but my Ion drive speed is still only 5. I own a cargo transport. Please help, somebody

nvm...I figured it out...that was for a better stardrive, not Ion drive....dang it I just wasted my life's savings...

Only way to change the ion drive is to buy a better ship.

Stardrives are more useful then ion drives anyways.
