pirates on trade routes

Post by bijou666 »

im starting to trade more to get advancements on my ship and i was weary about going far to trade instead of staying near places were you cant use weapons, im just wondering if there is actualy any pirates out there, like people that will go kill you to steal your cargo and stuff, and if it takes that long to kill a cargo ship, like if i would have time to outrun the pirate or if anyone has any tips about avoiding pirates, if there is any :)

priracy hasn't really taken off yet - hopefully (?) as more and more traders start to explore deeper space, things will change.

if your ship has the capacity - get yourself to iridis and stock up on missiles and counter measures just in case.

first direct hit by a missile will damage shields and drives. counter measures are pretty effective. as far as outrunning an attacker - that all depends on how fast the ships involved are, and how much damage you've taken.

there are some decent trade routes out there, so its worth the risk.

your ship systems will alert you to the fact that someone has fired at you - use countermeasures as soon as possible when you hear the alert - you dont have a huge amount of time.

at the moment - they can't steal your cargo, but you cannot collect it later either, so no point jettisoning it.

Fight or run - the choice is yours - but don't infimp or stardrive out of the system while under attack, that is certain death (built into the game to prevent such a retreat)

at the moment the worst that will happen is that your ship is destroyed and you respawn at a station - not sure if its the nearest or in cirrus only) - cash and cargo intact.

if you escape from the attack, and want to repair your damage quickly, exit and re-enter the game.

Of course, that'll bring the same loss as death as soon as that is put in place :)

Indeed, when this is all fully developed, if you do that, you'll lose all your cargo. Activating this is a serverside switch, so dont be surprised if it suddenly starts happening :)
at the moment - they can't steal your cargo
Theoretically, they can now do that. Theoretically. Havent had chance to sit down and test it yet.. Remind me next time you see me online and sober enough to type :)

but .explodeme is the ONLY way to remove damage no matter whether you are in battle or not...It is a whole lot faster then exiting the game and then reconnecting. Theoretically exiting the game and reconnecting again will cause you to lose your cargo this way to if you have taken damage.

Unless your ship explodes... .explodeme will make your ship explode into billions of tiny pieces! Ship blows up, no more damage :P .explodeme is the same thing as being killed...
Also .explodeme comes in handy if you want to make a space movie with your friend firing a couple of times and then you .explodeme to make it look like your friend killed in a min or so, which will add drama to the movie you are making within TU! :D
