Galaxy Reset - 16th December 2005

If all goes to plan, Midnight GMT at the end of 16th December will be the time for the galactic reset. All galactic characters will be wiped - your gal credits, space items and prestige will be reset.

Why?
The galaxy has been running in 'beta' for about 6 months now, during which time a whole load of features have been added, settings have been tweaked, trading routes have been changed, ship settings adjusted - when you started playing will have affected how easy/hard trading was. The reset will create a level playing field for all players and allow for a fair competition.

Will it be reset again?
Yes, quite probably. Although a truly persistent galaxy is the goal, inevitably more stuff will need to be changed next year that'll imbalance things again. Hopefully that won't be for some time - the aim is to run the next round of the galaxy for at least 12 months.. although its also possible that it will run for much longer.

There is a small chance that the reset on the 16th may cause immediate problems that will need fixing - and its possible that might necessitate a further reset later in the week. Fingers crossed this won't be needed, but if you're don't want to accept that risk, wait until after christmas before you start building up your gal character.

The galactic reset will not affect your characters on any worlds you are playing on.

About world descriptions, how about forcing them to be descriptive of the world or sticking in a sidebox [from clicking a little icon or something] description in the finite drive so people know what to expect when they land.

Appropriate prestige (& other) rewards will follow when the prestige systems have had a wee overhaul..

im a bit behind on the final enhancements to space stuff as ive spent most of my recent freetime getting worlds in shape for the promo in a couple of weeks. But new space bits (clans,bounties,pirating & mining) will be added in soonish , in a way that shouldnt significantly affect the balance of the gal... so if all goes well ya should now be free to trade in a fairly safe, level universe that wont get reset for a while. Theoretically.. :]
