sorry about that your ip address was part of a wildcard ip ban for one of our more unsavoury players, should all be working fine now.

Maybe you shouldn't ban IP ranges, maybe just ban the 1 IP. As it would eliminate problems like these. And fi you want to eliminate one player from accessing, you should do what punkbuster does 9PB is an anti-cheat thing) ban them by hardware, so each time a user joins, signsup whatever, it assigns their computer a unique GUID, and it stays as it, so you can ban them via GUID. And it would be really expensive for the person to be unbanned...

I hope it helps lol, for more info on pb visit their official site.

Banning by hardware sounds good...
(If it gets implemented I bet it'll be in secret :P)

most likely, but I like the idea, because I got banned a while back from a COD server via punkbuster, because I was in a rival clan, and was on a winning streak, the owner got the shlits and banned me. I was able to get back into it after I had a much needed PC upgrade. But between that time period, I had changed my ISPp (because my other one was a rip off, and barely any bandwidth) and I had tried (even though it sucked) joining the server, and not-suprising was fully banned still.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

we already have that here actually. any op or higher can ban any player by looking up thier id via the *getid command and then banning it.
its nice, but for players who can access via multiple computers and/or know how to get around it, its somewhat useless..

on the other hand, for users that always stay in a certain ip range (like how yours always atart in 59.164) range banning would be quite effecient givin the current small community and lack of innocents to get hurt.

all depends on the player really. some get banned by id. some get banned by ip

Well, I just had that surge of an idea.

I have a static IP however, so mine is always whatever it is. I think it's 59.167.**.**
so you're wrong, it's 59.167.

Anyway, just that idea, the punkbuster one you can get around it, changing mac address, but it never works, so it may be a good idea to improve it somehow.

Just an idea.

Thanks.

oops, yea, 7 not a 4. i only typed it from memory, it wasen't a copy and paste :P
and its not really static either, you've made posts here in 6 different ips :P

a much better thing to use would be the hostname of a persons pc.
just guessing and never have tried, but i don't think people can change thier hostname easily since it depends on thier account with thier isp and afaik, always is the same.

Actualy zar hostname can be easly set by going under My Computer->Propertys->Computer Name and clicking Change.

While messing with ipconfig /all I came up with this idea: why not ban by a network adpaters physical address? (Not the router,well...maybe,depending on the situation)
(adresses go like 00-12-**-etc)

thats the network name of the pc for networks and network groups :P
like...if you had five pc's on a network, they could be named Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter, Office for easy recognition when sharing files over the network.

a hostname with the isp would be something like:
(whatever).plmthm01.pa.comcast.net

but...looking at all my past ones, they seem to change each time my ip changed. unless its just saying different ones due to them being old ip addresses and possibly in use by other people now or not in use at all and thus can't provide correct accurate info.

Mmm...my ISP does it diffrently,
(IP Adress,tukw.qwest.net)
There's always tukw.qwest.net at the end. I'm taking a quess tukw means tukwilla,a city near here.
Though banning by the something.qwest.net wouln't do much,if you ban soley on the hostname wouldn't that ban everyone in the area using that ISP? :P
It could be changed with a simple ISP change. Qwest for example has a huge list of 3rd party local ISPs that I could switch to (Cheaper prices but I don't exatcly trust 3rd partys handling my internet :)) thus switching the host name. 20+ if I recall...

I think I'm not clear what your saying zaroba perhaps?
