Cargo Vessel ?s

Post by Damon »

Before I go and blow a whole bunch of credits on getting a bigger/faster ship, I just have a couple questions for those lucky enough (or fast enough) to have gotten a galaxy freighter or stellar freighter already...

What's the ion drive speed of the freighters?

What's their base cargo capacity?

Do the cargo containers that I already have on my cargo ship transfer over to that freighter or do I have to buy all new ones?

For that matter... what is the maximum number of cargo containers for the ships? Is there a limit or can you keep adding onto them?

Dunno about the Galactic Freighter, but the Stellar Freighter specs are as follows:

Ion 8 (top speed 85)
Cargo 40t (without extension)
Cost: 99,500 creds

cargo extensions transfer between ships, but only one is in operation at any time - the largest you have. No ship operates multiple cargo extensions. sell the smaller ones back as you upgrade, if you can find somewhere to buy them. same with stardrives.

If I was gonna reccomend a ship, it would have to be the pirate - its nippy , reasonable cargo hold, and not too expensive. (ion 10, 20t cargo I think) and it looks kinda funky too :)
Cobra ion 14, cargo 22, cost around 50,000cr

Until the defensive/attack capabilities come in with the piracy, I wouldn't bother upgrading ship any further than the pirate (but go as high as you can afford with cargo extensions & stardrive). Mit mentioned elsewhere that he has some interesting ship add-ons coming for the bigger ships, but at the moment the prices are too high for limited benefits

Trying out the Galactic Freighter now. General stats are as follows:

Ion: 8 (max speed 80.00)
Cargo Capacity: 29

Which brings me to another question... is it supposed to be 29 or 30? The cargo transport has a limit of 20 while the stellar freighter has a limit of 40. Seems that the galactic freighter should be 30 instead of 29.

possible that the cargo hold should've been 30 - but most of the ships have been fiddled with a bit over the last couple of months as MIt et al have been tweaking behind the scenes. Nothing much to worry about tho - they will all probably change again slightly in the december reset :)

it just occured to me that if the only diff between Gal freighter and Stellar freighter is 10t cargo bay, 0.5ion and about 92,000 credits - I wanna refund! :P

thats not the only somewhat worthless thing.

a 10t expansion is less then 1k
a 25t expansion is over 20k

i would expect something like the stellar freighter (which sounds like it should be the biggist ship) to hold 250tons. or atleast 100tons
