lol, thats easier and quiocker then it sounds.
first you gotta find a good trade out, then you gotta sit waiting watching the ship spend possibly 5-10 mins to get to where it needs to go without you doing a thing.

its quite boring.

finding a trade route should be easier in the future though, i'm working on setting up a directory of what each station sells and buys that players can use. will still have to manually look around though since the station prices change as people trade stuff so the list can't effectivly display the profits (or losses) a route could make.

Yes, we just all start off with 2k cr. That l24 stardrive must be so easy and non-time consuming to obtain :p

But on a more serious note, and I think this may be in the wrong thread but are there any plans for a lifetime purchase of a world?

ummm.... well.. thats alright then isnt it? :]
then you gotta sit waiting watching the ship
I think the secret is not to just sit there watching your ship :)..
I played elite when i was about 13, managed to make about 50,000cr and at the same time learnt how to write computer games. :]

The space trade stuff is pretty much mimicing elite, and that got a similar response.. some ppl loved it, some ppl thought it was boring as hell. We're probably not too far off then :)... and well.. cant please everyone :]

Remember too, that theres still much balancing to be done on the prices, trade route availabilty and settings. I did an experiment the other day, starting with the default setup and doing space trading for about 8 hours straight. (While at the same time, implementing 90% of the marketstall system mentioned elsewhere). The amount of cash i earnt after the 8 hours will be enough to buy an infimp, system drive, and an L24 or L40 stardrive - once the settings have become more finalised. (Infimps etc will become cheaper soon).

8 hours is not a particularly long time to open up most of a game's features - if you cant be arsed to perservere with the trading for that long, well then you cant go explore unknown worlds.
But on a more serious note, and I think this may be in the wrong thread but are there any plans for a lifetime purchase of a world?
Only plans in the sense of thats pretty much what we have now - i will formalise that if you wish.

err.... I'll pick formalise it.

Currently you can buy [donate for] a world for a lifetime, but since this new system is coming in will the lifetime option still be avaliable? and if so any changes to what the price is.. whatever it was?

yeh, 23:58 according to my clock :)

Unfoooortunately.. (duh duh duhhh).. as usual i aint had time (and am too drunk) to do all the things i wanted to, so theres nothin new spacewise yet (nor have i yet finished tidyin up the required changes to the website). The new drives, linking unregistered worlds to the gal, and space trade adjustments, will just need a galaxy server update which i'll try to get done this weekend. (Tho its more likely i'll be afk sat & sun as i've had quite enough of this this week :] ).

My gf is away on a pansy next weekend so i should get chance to finish up the rest of the stuff then. (and add the marketplace and dynamic terrain modification)
Well, at least u got new world toys to play with..

Right.. im off to collapse in a big heap and dream nice drunken dreams in which id never started this stupid thing :]. Lemme know what things ive done terribly wrong that need fixing and i'll get round to it soon as i can summon up the will.

well i snagged the update before you said things arent all ironed out yet, and flew into an unknown (assuming that this was how it was claimed) and it threw me outta client and when went back into the client, was stuck in landing scene until magicfinger relocated me

the model library, world owners manual, and world templets section would be good to be available also.
