yikes, need a stardrive l24 AND an infimp to get to em?

even planets in close m-25 are rarly visited, like zoric even though its in the fimp list.

wonder how long it'll take for people to visit one of the unknown worlds.

thats what we're doing isnt it? :]

There'll be L40 stardrives made available to allow the entire gal to be accessed (i dont *think* there are any stars more remote from their neighbours than that, but feel free to prove me wrong..).

Will this mean everyone's account will have to be upgraded to include world owner status on the website?

I'll have some of that exploration action!

maybe "ravings of a spaceweary traveller pt 2"? Discover if Franzen's Folly really is where Fooli lives?

no, but all the world owner resources (and forums) will become publicly accessible. (The staff/developers board will be kept private for people who have registered).

Mit wrote: Which unknown world is used for which planet will change each time the planet connects to the galaxy. (Therefore if anyone runs their world 24hr it will generally remain in the same place). The gal server will choose unknown planets closest to the starting system first, and choose further away planets as more worlds are run. (Tho, um, this process is somewhat YTBW :] )
if I'm reading you right, these new planets will potentially shift location on a daily basis?

isn't this going to make a l24 or higher stardrive a necessity rather than a luxury? how's that going to affect the pricing (and its knock-on effect in space trading?) nice to see bigger stardrive coming tho...

this has the potential to be highly creative or highly complicated and confusing. dunno which, probably both

potentially yes - unless the worlds are left online permanently. (And as the gal will allocate unused worlds closest to the starting system by preference, over time the worlds that are online most will naturally begin to occupy the systems closest to the starting worlds). Registering the world will give it a name and permanent position, of course.

a bit yes.. drives will probably get a bit cheaper (infimps too)... tho they will still be an item that needs a bit of earning. (The kids here have spent too long getting stuff for free and have become all soft :] ). Ppl who want to try building a world will be able to access their own world directly, without goin thru space, so the longer drive is not essential for them - only for ppl who want to go off exploring unknown worlds.

both would please me :)

if you access the world from the server panel, you can't launch.
nor is it conencted to the chat server.

well, has always been that way for me anyway.

maybe all the unknowns being occupied will help get people to leave cirrus and visit worlds in otehr systems.

ain't that the truth.
can't even make a world be slightly dark at night without people crying and playing elsewhere.
makes me wonder if next zoric and ciroz will even be worth finishing. well, ciroz maybe, but as for next zoric i don't know.

Its different for the local world in 0.48.0 - you run the client as normally but connect to your world from the frontend menu. When you're on your world you're connected to chat server and galaxy server.

We all have those moments :). Most of the time reading the forums does it for me :]

yes, you can go straight to your own world from the main game menu - you dont need an infimp or any other space stuff.

well, you'll need a stardrive to jump into the system the unknowns are in.

as said ealier in the topic, use an infimp to goto becon, then a l24 stardrive to go from thier.
