problem on the forums

Post by Tom »

HOME, FORUM, DOWNLOADS, ISLAND DESIGN, MODEL LIBARY, and REGISTER
well i cant see those buttons now im using netscape. i can see those buttons if im in the models libary! thats the only time they appear! any reason for this?
the rest of the time its like when you cant recieve a pic from a website and it just leaves a lil cross, but this isnt a cross, but its the same type of thing!

any reason why it appears then but not the rest of the time like if im on the forums or on the home, page

i sent mit the fix for this ages ago....flog 'em ;)
i think it was a space or funky character in the image name or something. i've been using mozilla for about 8 months and it's one of maybe three sites that does it.

IE users won't have a problem, just us. it's the webpage's fault though, not netscape's... IE is just more forgiving of bad code.

the problem (just checked cause i forgot what it was), is that mit, or the webpage making program that mit uses, coded the graphics like this:

http://gameislands.net/Images\menu\home.gif"

but it should be like this:

http://gameislands.net/Images/menu/home.gif"

i'll resend him the fix for the page so we can see it properly, and hopefully he'll add it in soon.

aye, on that page the slashes are fine for whatever reason. it's not really netscape's fault, it just expects less chimpness than IE does

what if you right click that link and select Save Target As?

saounds like the browser is just trying to open the file as if it were an html file or text document. which i belive has nothing to do with the site itself. site only provides a link, its the browser's desicion on what to do with it :P

atleast you can view pics :P
whenever i direct link to a bmp file, my browser tries to download it instead of showing me it.

i don't think it's when you click on it twice, but when you click on it from a certain page.

i mean it is a monkey doing all the site design, after all ;)
