Not Connecting
The game was working fine last night. Then, I got disconnected. Is it just me, or is it the whole game?
The galaxy was working fine until my electricity company decided to cut me off a few hours ago, apparently as part of their "fix" for a problem reported by someone else in this block. Power's back on now, but I can't get the gal to compile properly. I've left a message with mit - gal will be back as soon as he (or someone else that understands it) can recompile the galaxy prog. Sorry for the inconvenience...

uh-oh. No reset was planned AFIAK. My char seems to be back to square one... if the same's true for all of you, all I can imagine is that the powercut has somehow screwed up the gal records. The galaxy backs up said records on a regular basis, but... if it doesn't automatically reload the latest backups, I'm not sure wot I need to do to restore them [file under "Fooli doesn't know enough to reply accurately"]
Aporogies for the inconvienience. Sue London Electricity, why don't we :) Hopefully mit'll have an answer soon. Will post here when I know more...
EDIT:
Ok, backup phase #1 did diddly to help the situation. Supreme Galactic Ruler has been notified. He'll be here as soon as the train shows up :)
FURTHER EDIT:
Fixed. Good thing mit knows wot he's doin :) I'm not totally sure whether your characters are back to their "just before the powercut" state or if you've been reset a day or so, but you're all basically back there. More or less.

Three days... ack. Well, that's a pain. Chatting to mit, all we can think of is that we were really unlucky - maybe the galaxy was in the middle of writing the records file when the power died. It wouldn't normally lose any data.
Who knows... still, with a day off, at least you'll have a chance to get the jump on all those other galactic millionnaire wannabes.
But whaddaya mean, you won't be watching the cricket? :)

I believe it's scheduled for whenever mit finishes the space & trading stuff. It's mostly done now: as far as I know, there are a few tweaks and features to be added, but the main focus at the moment is balancing the gameplay - which you're all helping with by playing 'the space game' :]
I'm building a load more 3d content for the space side of things too, and there's at least one really nice change planned for space stations that'll be coming in the not-too-distant future.
Mit's time is really limited at the moment owing to his crazy employers, which makes it hard to predict when the reset'll happen. And to be honest, whenever we give a date we usually miss it by miles. So, er... I don't know, is the short answer.

Aye, those fools. Anyone would think they wanted me to spend my time doing work to earn them money rather doing our own stuff thats much more fun :]Mit's time is really limited at the moment owing to his crazy employers
yeh.. June was the main one that coincided with the space trading system being put properly in place. Since then we've been tweaking the values, fixing some issues and adding a few more bits - and that means that people who started doing stuff in space earlier or later will have experienced different levels of difficulty. (e.g. Ppl trading in the first weeks after the reset were able to gain creds much easier earlier on than ppl can now).erm...wasen't thier a galactic reset already around the end of june?
As fooli said, those of you going through the space stuff at the mo are helping the tweaking and balancing process - so none of it is completely wasted effort.. at the very least you're helping to improve the game for the future.
Ultimately, when all the features are complete and nicely balanced, i'll stop making any significant changes, do another reset and then everyone will be able to trade on a level playing-field.
When this happens is a very much unknown unfortunately.. we're approaching the end of a couple of years worth of stuff at work atm so it is occupying a lot of my time. Theres also still lots of extra factors i need to add to the space-section of the game (being able to steal cargo by blasting other players being the main one).
I dont expect to do a gal reset for at least another couple of months.. when it does happen, i hope you'll consider it like starting a 'new round' or something..
I'll also be looking to give out a few prizes to those ppl who've done particularly well on the current setup..
