MechZone...

Post by Minku »

Ok... Whats the real point of mechzone? The thing is way to hard to cnotrol.. and weapons are pretty crappy...

Ye should just have two walled bases with a bunch of mech producters, and the game ends when one side destroys the enemy HQ... then the game is reset... and when turrets are up (( )) Ye kin spread em around the base walls... and make a true base...

Differnt mechs might include Reina Roja's, customs, and models of mechs from battletech, like the Raven, Mad Cat and the Atlas...

Just a suggestion... neat idea and all though..

:] Well, there is a small element of defending the base to break up the repetition....

Like most of my worlds, mechzone is very much a simplified version of the ideal. Yeh, walled bases, a mini-economy, different mechs, better control and weapons would all be neat and would all be part of a fuller, complete version. Thanks to all the coding that needs doin, and the few hours a week i get on the puter to do it, I never have time to build and run a world thats as comprehensive or balanced as i'd like. Instead, by making this simplified places im able to find and fix the restrictions the game has that would otherwise mean none of the above was possible. Also, hopefully it might inspire other world owners to do a better job of it.
Like Iridis, at some point when mechzone is a bit more advanced i'd like to find a sysop interested and able to spend more time making the world better. Are you volunteering minku? :]

Mechwarrior 4... good lord... it's sad really... not as good as mechwarrior 3 IMO... after Micro$oft got their hands on it it turned to CRAP. I wouldn't mind something similar to Mechwarrior 3 :D

just had a real laugh blowing the crap out of various people.

BUT - the "team" system doesnt' seem to work - we only got creds for blowing up our own team members. Is this how it's supposed to be?

ended up as manic free-for-all, mindlessly blowing people up and stomping around, which was a good laugh in itself. But - if meant to be co-operating in teams, this needs fixing!

well' as I've only been playing for a month, and as mechzone moved and came online last night sometime (UK time), for the first time since I've been a registered player, and this seemed to be a forum thread about mechzone - it seemed reasonable. Your problem with this is what?

does indeed seem an appropriate place for it. :)

mm, yeh, that team thing shouldnt be happenin like that, so it definitely sounds like a bug.. will get it fixed before the next client patch.

For those interested.. Device is now running Mechzone and its the first world using Device's new Linux build of the server. There may be a few issues with the conversion (tho the team thing is unlikely to be related), which we hope to work through by having some players on regularly to test it out (Hence why its just moved to the starting system).

All the previous stuff about expanding the gameplay on mechzone still applies.. so if you've got any specific suggestions/requests post em here and hopefully devi or i will get round to adding some more stuff in for it. Potentially i think it could be quite a funky lil subgame..

As far I know, team game of capturing and holding the "shiny fountain" thing for 2 minutes should work ok once a new client will be released.

Actually, that's a FreeBSD server, not a Linux one. Well, doesn't really matter 8)

Do you have reasonable pings to the server ? I cannot test it as it's on my local network i got really good pings
