Game won't run...

Post by Bunford5 »

I try to the run the game (in windowed mode, not fullscreen) and the window pops up but it's transparent. I can still see the desktop wallpaper through it. The music starts but i still just see the window border with nothing in it. This happens about 70% of the time. Reseting the pc sometimes helps but not consistently. Should i reinstall or something?

as a guess.. it sounds like something video driver related.. might be worth having a look about for updated drivers or trying reinstalling directX.
Has this happened consistently or has it just started recently? If recently, have you installed any new software, drivers or hardware that coincided with the problem starting?
Does fullscreen work ok?

It's always been a problem. In fullscreen i usually get the start screen and beautifull banjo music. Then i select last world/sometimes continue game and it freezez at the point where it says 'connecting to world'. In windowed mode, i get the transparent window. Sometimes it just works, but that always surprises me so it can't ba happening that often. Mit strikes me as a wise old chimp, i'll look for direct x updates and if it doesn't work i'll reinstall direct x and the universal.
Here goes...

This might work. The Universal requires directX 8 or higher so if you have any games that have a later version eg 8.1 or 9, then reinstall that. I had the same problem and it worked for me :)

Or, if you still have the same problem, try installing and running the game on another PC if you have one

It's happening again!! I run the game and at some point (usually when i click 'continue game' and see sabrada floating in front of me) the game freezes. I tried reinstalling the game and unlike last time it didn't fix the problem. I have a geforce 3 gfx card and have updated to the latest direct x if that makes a difference...

EDIT : It's working again now :)

with it coming and going like that, it sounds like something else on the computer might be interfearing with the games running.

dont worry about it, at least yours is stable! mine will take cpu usage from 0% to 100% the moment i turn on the game. could u please revise the game to take up less systum memory? and by the way, my computer runs Doom 3 with no problem, so i KNOW that the processor isnt the problem.

MY COMPUTER SPECS:
Pentium 4 processor
40 gig hard drive
2999876 BPS dial up connection
ATI Radion 9600 Graphics card

Now u know that it isnt my computer causing the problem.
And do u know what happens when CPU Memory is all used up? That's right, it freezes!

FIX IT OR U HAVE COMMITED ONE MORE SIN!

the client takes all the cpu time (irrespective of your CPU power) it can get when rendering the landscape - this is so it has a high an FPS as possible. Most games do that, and it shouldnt affect your connection as this is still updated regularly.

If you're on a low spec graphics card, It might help if you adjust some of the graphic settings - if you're using the latest version 1.44.0, try turning off the shadows (if they're on).

One thing the game should do, which it doesnt yet, is to go in a low fps mode when in windowed mode and when the window doesnt have focus. I'll add this soon, but it won't affect the games performance normally.
Btw, the F1 small mode option does switch the game to a low-cpu usage state, handy if you wanna stay in the game but use other apps etc.

I THINK i might know your problem some times after i get an error in the game it opens in windowed mode and each time the window is fractionally smaller and smaller basickly maxamise is taken off and its resized to a smaller and smaller window every time i start up the client. its either that or Can you see the outline of the window and the desktop under that? if its the second i dont know @_@

i cant get it out of small mode now. it would normally help to do those things. i also made all shadows simple, since i don't know how to turn them off. i have the latest and greatest graphic card. but my modem card is a overclocked windows 95 one

If i ever get this fixed, i want to make a Goth world and have radio channels for all KoRn, all Castlevania Goth rock remixes, and another playing comedy stuff to lighten the mood.

Also, could u please give us a character editer in the next version. i want to make mine look like an oni demon with obsidion hands

Now that ive got all that covered... ill see if my changes still work.

 KoRn  .....

it still took all the cpu. my browser steals cpu space from this program and that makes THE UNIVERSAL take more space than is on the cpu. i had 2 use a library computer to post this. my browser sux. and i cant afford broadband to help with the space problems.

THIS SUX! im just sticking to SOMX and music.

i might start downloading ROMs from places

ROM's? How evil. :P

Anyways,have you tryed pressing F1 - > Options - > Then clicking Fullscreen?

If that don't work,I quess that would be one of the falls of overclocking your video card I quess. (All I know is that it's not supported).
