I agree because you can't get the full potential out of the game if you can only build n buildings. You might say that it stops islands getting overcrowded but I think that sensible players should be allowed to own as many buildings as they please.

If there's no limit, one doesn't really have to plan their actions beforehand. One can simply buy everything and try their luck at every possible business. This is a more arcadeish approach, which shouldn't be used on economy worlds, as ones looking after action, can simply play on the actionbased worlds, such as Reina Roja and battlezone.

Removing building limit is indeed a moronic idea. It would even accelerate the "rich get richer"-effect which is already next to unbearable.

The current system has evolved to what it is now as after thorough testing it was verified as the best option.

This applies to the not being able to stock yourself, too.

i thought i clearly emphasised the DIFFERENT bit. DIFERENT, DIFERENT DIFFERENT DIFERENT DIFFERENT DIFERENT DIFFERENT DIFERENT DIFFERENT DIFERENT DIFFERENT. i think there shouldnt be a different buildings limit. just the maximum buildings its just stupid theres no point.

I went through the "no limit on max types" in the first paragraph. In the second paragraph, I moved to the "no limit on max buildings".

Limit to the number of different buildings is, of course, an optional world setting, so really this suggestion should be aimed at a particular world/s.

Like many of these systems, it was added from previous experience.. A few years ago before the optional building limits, worlds often ended with up a small group of players owning 90% of the industry, and would generally become full of buildings in a short time. The different buildings limit in particular was included to make players focus on a particular industry, just as they do in real life.

Thats not to say that its right or wrong to include it.. Some worlds it might not be appropriate at all, and some world owners may not want to have this feature.
Is there a particular world you think suffers from having the different buildings limit set too low?

I cant think of any - Planitia is fine, and once or twice I wished for it to be higher, sure, but that was just greediness :)
