is zoric too dark?
ok, occasionally i hear a player say its too dark.
most recent was one (a vetern even, not a new player) crying about it being pitch black at night time when the island is set to use the brightist setting besides 24/7 unchanging light, of course he refused to check his video settings or update his drivers. so i refused to change the brightness and make it light 24/7. heck, why should i do something for him when he's too stuck up and obsessing that his pc is too fine to have a setting wrong and wont even check?
anyway, if enough people can say legitimate reasons why they can't do a single thing in the slightist bit of night time, then fine, i'll change it to being light 24/7. as it stands now though, i think the 24/7 light is pathetic and very unrealistic. its already nearly as bight as day in the night time.

it's dark more than it's light, yep, same on gyruss, and the dark is a bit annoying
Probably just need to make it more day than night, or something, perhaps you could check your settings vs other worlds?, maybe we're being spoilt by more light time these days, wasn't like that in my day, grumble sniff sniff scratch....

yea, i remember in the past it was always dark at night. really dark.
then it could get lighter and all of the sudden everybodies paranoid of darkness.
zoric is as bright at night as it can be without being full 24/7 brightness, yet some people still see it as pitch black. i barly see a difference between the day and night on zoric with my pc. even with my old crappy Geforce 2 i could see in night still when night was as dark as it could be.
i wonder why nobody has posted about it as a bug report though

Flying at night on wings field is nearly impossible due to the rough landscape. Can see that being a serious problem especially since the headlights on planes give you only like .3 seconds before you hit what is being lighted.
As far as Zoric goes, yeah, it's a bit dark, and it can be rather hard to see where the hell you're going when you don't have a vehicle. But unless Mit adds something like 50% light at night, or something close I don't see how this can be solved without either making the night portion go faster (like on planitia where night lasts only a few minutes, and days are longer) or making it constantly light.
Oh... I have my graphics card updated with the latest driver, have brightness turned all the way up on my monitor, and have even set some gamma correction and I still can't see shinola. So short of getting a new video card/monitor or a new pair of eyes, there's nothing I can do.

I think the darkness could be more of an immergent feature than a drawback, with terrain like that, who would expect an attack at night? (um, everyone now, lol)
You're right, I guess it's just the speed of planes with the very rough terrain. Going full speed below a height of 400 or so can be very bad for your health, unfortunately you're limited to a height of about 600 over land so it isn't hard to slam into the ground when you're trying to shoot at someone. On an unrelated note you should have made a limit of 1 or two houses to a character... It seems that scrag decided to buy all the houses and charge a hefty price.
Back on topic, yeah, Zoric gets a bit dark at night, but I don't think it would really solve the whole inactivity problem.

ah righto.. not something you can really design for from your point of view. Theres just different setups and screens for PCs that mean you can't cover every case - set it how you think it should look and hope that eventually the thing on my list for "in-game gamma control" gets added soon.
(i have the same sorta problems on my machines/monitor btw.. most of hedge's textures look black to me unless i have my brightness & contrast set up way high, and on the server machine ive been playing on recently even then i can't see iridis properly..)
