It should come to your attention that...

Post by 10dollars »

Hi, this is mainly important to any of the staff, so move along.

I have been with a-tractor since its very begginings when world hosting was free, and when it was around, it was great fun playing the game as it developed, I joined the beta team some time ago, (but deleted my email adress {diddnt want to pay}) anywho, I really want to do something here, I love it, I wanna waste my time helping out, I mean yeh I'm cool with website stuff, I can advertise on a number of things, TV, cd's, web and stuff, I can help newbies out, but something bigger than what I'm doing now.
You could say this is a request to be a staff, I am offering my busy time to do something BIG, and out of the odinary, I request that, and yeh.

Just read it and think, I being me, am offering time, and trying to fill an empty spot up the top to help.

Thankyou.

Whats the first rule in life!
NEVER ask for a promotion... NEVER

So sorry mate you just broke the cardanal rule :(

It is true that 80% of people in the uk businesses that asked for a promotion will never get one. If you want to be "promoted" you have to "show" you are willing to help, make apparences, help staff and customers most/all of the time, pritty much be the "tea boy" of the company for at least 6 months.

You may be luckey and be in the 20% margin but I dout it looking at the current staff and how much work they put into the game. :?

To be quite honist I see the following people getting promoted before anyone else in the universal:
First place position for staff - zaroba - Come on he built zoric... ZORIC and ran it into the spot light, not only that he helps players, world owners, hosts, and runs a site dedicated to the universal.

Secondly I see Junk and Jemrada being the next candidates equaly.....

Then I honistly can't see anyone else being staff... that includes myself as gyruss is a total shambles right now, my world editor is well... being built, the stats exe broken, and my college work in a shambles :)

Um, you WERE?

Why do you have to be a staff member to help people? you don't have to, a player becomes a knight by being helpful, not by asking and making promises. The system doesn't work like this "I'll help aslong as you make me an etc" people BECOME ops/staff/etc when the staff see you doing a good job and notice this. You earn respect by how you act.

In a lot of peoples eyes, asking completly voids all chances, because the staff are swamped as it is, and answering request after request can not only become tiresome, but perhaps even offensive and anger prevoking as the list of requests gets ever higher, I think this is mainly why asking generaly lowers the total respect of said individual. (someone correct me if i'm wrong, if not, add me to the "annoyed by requests list")

The lil fella is all grown up now and off doing exciting womanly-investigations n stuff like that i bet :] awww those were the days ;]
(actually, no, they weren't, but itd be nice (in a friendly, legal, non-intrusive way.. :]) to think that for tom they are :] )

I very much appreciate offers of help in whatever form, and as leig said, theres lots of ways in which you can. As for this whole 'promotion' thing... im really not sure what this is all about. I would hope (but im sure ill be disappointed) that most of us who regularly browse these forums and are 'addicted' (in one way or another) to furthering the cause of this game (whateva its called this week :] ) are pretty much "in it together".. whatever their title may be. Its not like we're some cutting edge 3d extravanganza that most of the kids are playing, where we really need to worry about filtering applications from ppl who want to help... im happy to accept any help running the game at all coz i reckon it'd be rare enough.
The fact that a few ppl here are called 'staff' is pretty much purely because i happen to know em in RL, and i know i dont have to feel too guilty about dumping off the shitty jobs (like dealing with ppl applying for promotions :] ) to em.. :) .. Having more 'staff' is neither a necessity or a goal.. those ppl who are there contribute to (rather tedious) decision making processes of the sort that having more ppl involved with would be pointless and counter-productive. Its hard enough for the 5 of us to agree on something already :)
Anyone who really thinks a 'title' in our little community is important is crazed or deluded and probably needs to get out more :].

But help.. yeh.. help we need lots of :) Theres plenty of newbies joining worlds not knowing what to do.. A few more kind helpers would go a long way to making this thing more successful im sure.

(p.s. while we're here, a big 'thank you' to all those of you currently out there giving help to newbies. I aint caught up on logs for a while (thanks to lack of PC), but im always amazed by the number of ppl willing to pass on tips and advice on the worlds. )

The river of newbies is in high tide now-a-days and I think we need all the help we can get. Seems all noobs are above reading the instructions. Tough work, but someones gotta do it  .

World op is determined by world owners... not the universal staff.

I think your backing up the wrong tree ;)

*ahem* this game has never been crappy...

Apoc was better then any game I could find

And it dont matter when you start, its the dedication you put in now. You got theo back, what more is there to want?

Op is granted not on the fourms, but on actions ingame. Spend time on the island help people out, if they need an op they may ask you. This topic is quite futile, i dunno how its gotten 2 pages :?
