Hey Mit, or who ever.....
I some how got the sound and music to work with Knight Online, Guild Wars and any other MMORPG of the sort, but i still get freexing when i enable sound on The Universal, is there anyway of getting it to not use the Microsoft Synthesiser, or delete Microsoft Synth for the matter entirely?
um, whats microsoft synth? :]
The game uses DirectSound to do all the music and sound effects.. I'm not exactly sure how that connects to microsoft synth in your case, but i spose having a look at the directX properties in the control panel might give you some DirectSound options that you could tinker with?
Any help?

Microsoft Synth???
Heya, that's the default MIDI Driver (I'ma MIDI Person)
Anyways,I quess upgrading your soundcard drivers should help cause for one,I don't see how the heck A MIDI driver is the default for a game that uses Wave.(Ala Directsound)
And just to be on the safe side, none of your drivers shouldn't be a microsoft something unless it was manufacterd by microsoft, otherwise,I can see problems probably coming up..
And if you can't do none of the above...go into the sound control panel and change the MIDI driver under the Audio Tab.
Hope this helps.

Yeh, no MIDI required. Not yet anyway :)
Post details of your soundcard and I'll see if I can shed any light.
First suspicions: you don't have directsound drivers installed, or installed properly, or you don't have a directsound compatible soundcard (pretty unlikely). If you've had similar problems in other games but managed eventually to get them sorted, I'd imagine those games offered some kinda software emulation mode or something.
I think it's safe to say that 99.9% of our users have at least got some sound running.

PS - you do have a soundcard, dontya? :p

Creative Ensoniq AuidoPCI 128
All drivers are up to date, from creative.
Also, when ever i access the Sound Properties, and then try to apply, my comp locks up, i have tried everything to get direct sound to use the sound card as main sound, but thats all my guess, that its using this Microsoft MIDI thing as defualt port, also directsound, and music find no default port, and under MUSIC tab, it has everything listed, yet this mMicrosoft MIDI is defualted for port acceleration, last night i downloaded a 3d mdeling program, and it was bundled with some Intel DSX 3D Audio, and then i installed that, and somehting gave me a warm feeling to enable sound on Guild Wars and Knight Online, and they worked, i was amazed.

ok, now i am really curios, as the sound panel didnt freeze like it normally does, arghh, all i need to do is get Direct X to not use the Microsoft Synthesiser as Default for Sound, under the sound panel everything is set to use AUDIO PCI(my card)as the defualt, yet nothing happens in Direct X, and im afraid to remove the Microsoft Synethiser in Safe Mode, as i might screw myself completely.
