Sabrada
Sabrada
1: I cant find the starport.
2: I lose my jobs when I leave the island.
3 I have nothing else to complain about.
Um, seriously though, the starport has gone walkies, and there's a nasty bug with jobs that other people are getting also...it makes playing the island very...un-fun

i'm starting to think there's something very random and very funky going on with jobs.
perhaps even as far back as last year, i've heard people complain about losing jobs randomly. i've never been able to replicate it: every time i've applied for a job, i've kept it for at least the year or the min employ time created by the island.
about 20% of the folks on reina have mentioned losing a job at some point, wheras others seem to retain their jobs indefinitely.
if no one can recreate it in any definitive way though, i'm not sure how to report such a thing as a bug.
i'm with zar in that my guess is that the players aren't fully understanding the eccentricities of the various employment modes. there should be additional info both when you apply for a position, when you're fired, and on the building info window for a place that's hiring, so you know what you're up against, and how best to complain to a building owner who's holding you've been fired from.
i'll see if i can pop open the bdat i pull down from sabrada and make comparisons to reina's. praps there's an answer there, since i don't think i've heard that complaint from folks on planitia afaik.

planitia has been stable on the job front, and losing jobs on reina, has been accidental for me, when i've been stocking and hit the wrong button, it happens.
But to be honest.....sebrada is pretty ficked, I've given up on it sadly, it needs a starport for one, and also a stable system, and a clean map........I mean, trying not to be too much of a hyprocrit here...but can someone do something about it?
Hedge, I think the sebrada problem is more serious, it seems more...sudden, I also see the red health bars on buildings flash sometimes....I mean, someone says on sebrada "Every time I log off I lose my jobs, it's really annoying" and I said "did you tell the owner?" he said "I might do, maybe".....then it happens to me the next day.......

Hmm,If I recall right:
You lose that job if you apply from that NPC charecter Jenovaha. or something,
You lose that job if they don't have enough money to pay you,
You lose that job if the person fires you.
I have to admit that Sabrada is abit over the place..
Oh and yeah, the preivous place where the starport was is not there.
Just me two cents..

you probably worked at both my Zoric atown and Waynesboro town plinth.
i saw they were jobless and got gk8000 to take the jobs right away since waynesboro is a major source of my income.
short while later i looked in my while gone news and i saw that you and others were getting sacked because "building Zoric diden't have enough money to pay its employee" and the same for waynesboro. so maybe it was a time right after i uninvested and something went screwy with min investment, or the pay source.

I think the main underlying problem with sabrada is two fold...
First, there are dozens of people who no longer play, yet still own buildings that aren't doing anything, and since these people havn't bothered to log in since the planet came back up, these buildings havn't gone for sale.
Second problem is that while there are some buildings for sale, their buy back price is exceptionally high compared to what it costs to make. This means that if a building becomes un-owned, it's actually cheaper to build a totally new one rather than buy an old one. This ultimately leads to either new people going broke thinking that they get a discount (like nearly every other world), or dozens of buildings sitting there derelict.
Given the fact that most main industries (food and vehicles) require level 2-3 building skills, once these buildings run out of investment, or stop buying due to being jahowned, all related areas start to fail. This is fairly evident with the food industry since certain production buildings don't sell directly, so though stocked, cannot generate revenue without direct owner involvment. So ultimately fail with inactivity.
I'd almost be tempted to suggest a world reset, then adding some slight gov buying to keep the economy going until it becomes more active. But I don't think that would be too well recieved.

the problem with the inactive players isen't that much of a problem. building decay is on so most unused buildings have fallen down since the island came back up, like all but my lumber mill, a few power plants, the farms.
the inactivity timer is also set, although its high at 33 days, some people do fall to it
if i remember corectly, jemrada set the jehovah sale price high so that players woulden't buy jehovah buildings and would build new ones keeping the material industry alive and kicking. he used to constantly destroy the jehovah buildings.
another problem i can see with the economy on sabrada is one that happens on every island. semi-inactive players running good buildings poorly. an example of this is Dude and his policy of Buy at the price people are selling and sell at the price people are buying. until recently he owned the only Chem Labs on Planitia. his sucky buy prices meant that nobody could stock his buildings with electricity unless they took a loss, and his sale prices were extremly high. thus, unless he was on to stock his buildings with electricity, chems woulden't be made, and it turns out dude isen't exactly around that much.

well, that explains how he seems to knock me off the top spot on the wealth lists, boo, hiss, etc
