Two things.

1. X-wing allicance Muiltiplayer is fun.. but dead...

2. Stop posting topics on this subject over and over again or ye will never get help, state your problem fully and then wait, go play x-wing for a while then come back here and try the solutions we give you.

okay i'll tell you the whole problem and send no more posts till you give me answer.
right. I can start up the game fine, and drive around space fine, but when i try to land on a planet, it will do "Loading Buildings" and "Loading Settings" but when it gets to "Establishing Connection" the mouse icon turns into an hourglass, the sound fx stop, and the game freezes. true to my word, i'll now not post any more till you give me a decent solution. cheers

Hmmm...

Ok, Here we go....

Restart your computer, if that doesn't work then reinstall the game then restart.

If that doesn't work it is probably your internet connection or a program is interfering with Universal... probably a firewall...

To be honest it sounds like some kind of config issue at your end, especially since one of your many other posts mentions that you didn't have any problems with your previous PC.

My suspicion, as minku said, would be a firewall of some kind - if you've moved from win98 (where it worked) to winxp (where it doesn't work) it might be xp's in-built firewall thing preventing you connecting. It doesn't immediately sound like a problem with gfx etc, cos you aren't getting error messages relating to that (and you can fly around in space ok, so basically it doesn't seem like you're having gfx problems). You could try turning sounds off (f1 to enter small mode, then hunt about in the options) but again I doubt that'll be it.

Tell me your login name and I'll see if the galaxy can provide any helpful info.

i tried setting the firewall and turned it off (the built in one) but still there is no difference. Anything else you might recommend?

can you please confirm the last line printed when you try to join a planet. (It should be something like "Establishing connection to Planet [NNNNN]" rather than just "Establishing connection" - im not jus being picky :] - its important to know exactly which stage the game's failing at.. )

I assume you're running Fullscreen? If so, try changing to windowed mode (F1 while in space then uncheck 'Fullscreen' on the options menu) - and lemme know if it makes any difference to the results.

we would have no reason to lie and keep you out of the game, so i don't know why you think we're just giving your rubbish answers. the stuff i and others have said in your other topics is stuff that worked for other people that had similer problems. you don't have to keep making topic after topic everytime one goes an hour without a reply either, nobody sits on the forum 24/7 and problems often take time to solve. you just need to have patience. If anything, making multiple topics about this is makeing it take longer because nobody will easily know what was already suggested as a solution and what its effect was.

anyway, Do you have a router at all? or a cable or dsl modem?
if you have a router, it might be blocking incoming connections or certain ports.
or might need to reboot it or a cable/dsl modem you have.

i've had instences where my router and dsl modem would lock me offline until i unplugged it and plugged them back in again. no clue why.

and why is this the 3rd time i'm posting this?
fooli? your the only admin on. are you deleting this post? if so atleast say why.

i removed it once, zar, just on one of my regular tidyings of the help section. (I do occasionally delete various posts off the help forums, just so its a more valid resource for ppl with problems.. nothin personal :]. I usually dont mention it to peeps coz i figure they'd prefer not to have attention drawn to it :] )

Anyway I wanted my reply to be the last here so barrack would respond to it, and your answer aint really appropriate - routers will never be to blame for stopping outgoing client connections. (If they did, you'd never be able to access anything on the internet). Sure... they sometimes break down completely, like you said, but in this situation he's able to get to the galaxy and the world server but not connect to the planet - if the router was fecked i doubt either of the first 2 stages would work.
