Comments from a newcommer ; Step 2 & 3

hi all

@MIT : sorry if my comments seems harsh, it's always a delicate thing to explain (and thus comprehend) in a forum. Let me assure you that i just want to point annoying thing for a beginner, without any bitterness.

Day 2

after a few go here and there, i found how to buy another plane; so i practice for a good moment. that was rather fun. targetting is not easy, but with a bit of luck, it's doable

FYI, i'm abolutely not the kind of player used to (space)flight simulation; this is a domain in games that i never really explored; I'm playing The Universal, because flighting is just a part of the game, and so it does not (seems to) prevent from enjoying the game. i don't need / search to be the best pilot here for instance, but i appreciate the opportunity of a good flight. in fact, i appreciate the diversity of the game.

Day 3 :

Traveling in a star system. This is really a pain !!

I see a space station, my cursor changes, but i pass through it. I'm searching for a planet, but impossible to target it on screen (cokpit view), and point drive does not want to work (probably i don't have one ...).

I don't understand this pitch trick. I manage to use it, of course, but with serious difficulty. Perhaps is it for some realism, but to me it's very painful. Why is there no right or left command ???

Finally, i find what i was looking (that is Biplane world - because last time i was here, and today when connecting, i'm in front of battleworld ...)

So i try landing; but after "landing ... and Getting location" message, i'm back again in front of the planet; so i try again, and now everything is white, with just Connecting to world / F12 to abort. After more than a minute, i abort, the game disapear leaving me on my desktop ...

3rd try, after relaunching the game obviously; same result than first try, i'm back in space in front of the planet.

Why do i want to go to this planet, because the last time i play there, i manage to handle planes, and so have some fights; those figths have make me gain kudos, that i can convert in galactic credit, but the operation at the starport was not available; a guy told me that i just have to come back later, and this is what i'm trying.
Practicing on this Biplane world was interesting, but i don't want to loose the few things i have gained.

Aaaa! i 've found why i wasn't able to gain access to space station ! There is a F10 icon which lighten when you're near the station. Every other times, as your speed is very difficult to control in space (no way (to me) to select a precise level of speed - you type on the keyboard and this is wwooooo or hhhiiiiiiiiii - and it's never the same degree as i type variously to try slowing or accelerating - in fact i thing the speed control accelerate or slow too quickly - a longer pressure on the key would allow for a better control of the speed you want to attain), and as to enter a planet you just have to run inside, i've never paid attention to thisflashing icon. I was always checking for my position, trying to alignate on the station in hope it generate some landing phase, as for the planet ...

4th try to go back on biplane world - still blank screen; this is desesparting ...

so, where can i buy a point drive ? in a star station, probably; the one near Biplane world offers an infimp drive, hmm ... Anyway, i still have 0 gal cred

When i leave the space station, i'm positionned with deep space in front of me; that is a very beautiful sight, but that implies i have to pitttcch to find my way.

What i have understood of pitching :
there is a blue arrow which try to indicate me something
there is a green bar ...

Ah, after nearly 2 minutes of pitching and rotating (i still haven't move - sure because i've not accelerate), i see on screen the planet near the space station. damn, it just disapear, i've pitch in the wrong direction. Ah, it's back, but at the other end of the screen

The green bar has become orange ..., and it seems i'm moving, because the left bar progress a bit (but i haven't press the key ...)

i nearly miss the planet.

And having the screen turning makes me a bit "sick". .

Anyway, i manage landing. i'm thrown back in space ... moooooooo

Well, let's try another planet. I just seen Iridis passing on my screen. Ah, still blank loading phase. ok, there are days like that ...

Btw mit can i have 10 galaxy creds? i didnt not know 2 cargo bays didnt stack because i only have 40 tonnes of towing

and trading is messed up they are all the same prices... :S

Can i have a world? Im not an idiot, Ia understand it won't work, i have experiance with this game design and I've made one before. For free please... I was a loyal beta tester in 04 and the galaxy... Doesn't that entitle me a planet? :]

So i manage to land on this planet thx to Quickplay from the menu; but there is no one

i have a message "error opening island height file"

i discover that i have skills now (Build industrial / Factory worker)

i've clic on exit vehicle, so i'm running in waters

ok, i decide to leave, but ".launch" still does not want to work (it works once, at the beginning, this evening), so i use F12 ...

Now i go to Battlezone. Quickplay is more and more my friend

As there is no one, i go to the starport but sadly always have the downloading data screen ... F12

I've been with this game since 01, you see me trying to grab a world? Send mit some money, and stop being greedy.. He's gonna need that whiskey when you start bitching about how stuff doesnt work and no-one likes ur world..

mmm. yeah that's a usability issue i'd think, since you "land" on a planet by smashin into it, yet "land" on a space station with a key. it should be one or the other consistently i s'pose.

i'll have to take in the rest of this when it's not 5am :]
