Help please.

Hello, i'm new here. I've been trying to connect to the Universal galaxy server for 24 hours now, but everytime I try to run the exe, it gets to the 'connecting to world - connecting client to galaxy - establishing connection' prompt with the blue bar, but when it gets near to the end, it just pops up an error saying:

"Could not connect to the galaxy - No response
Either the glaxy is not currently online or the internet connection is not available
Check your connection of try later."

My internet connection is fine, I'm guessing the server isn't really offline or there would be hundreds of people flaming the forums. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

PS: This is the most enfuriating game I've never played. I hope it'll work some day, it looks amazing.

PPS: Does anyone know of any other galaxies that I could try to manually enter to see if it's andromeda or the entire game that I have a problem with? thanks

at the moments andromeda is the only galaxy that is available... my first peice pf advise would be to check you firewall logs to ensure that the incoming packets from the galaxy server arent being blocked... if thats not the case post back please.

I thought about that. I'm running XP at the moment (which I haven't used before) so I don't really know what I'm doing with the inbuilt firewall. I tried right clicking on my dialer -> properties -> advanced tab -> uncheck the box that says 'protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet'. But the problem still seems to be there. Although in the firewall log something seems to be getting through:

All I can tell u is that not a single one of those is the IP for the gal machine :)

would not recommend turning off firewall for extended periods ...

try installing a free firewall such as zonealarm or sygate as more configurable

Heh, I installed an ancient version of ZoneAlarm I used to use on winME, and now I can get in to the game (all hail Zonealarm). But it seems to lock up / give an error which I can't read because of the lock up when I try to enter a world. I'll try again in the morning. Thanks for all your help

Windows XP automanicly unblocks certain programs, Universal is one of them.

whats the world? it might be down.
