I did try the reroute method to no avail.

I did open a port... I have the same linksys software in my router as detailed in zar's guide.

Sorry to double post but I dont think this will become a reality, I have tried and retried but I cant get it to connect. I followed the guides and all haven't worked. Bummer.

Probably an issue with your client.
If I correctly diagnose your problem, the solution is quite simple:
Locate your client's directory and input it in your server options in the "Game Directory" box.
